Client Services and Administration, Student
I come from a town in North Queensland called Mackay. I have a large immediate family, being the fifth child of six kids, so growing up I was very used to being around lots of other people. It’s no coincidence for me as I love people and always felt safer being around people growing up.
Through high school I chose that I was not going to get into drugs and alcohol like my friends were starting to do. I always knew deep down inside me there was a truer way to live that would bring me joy and great experiences, and didn’t see getting drunk or stoned as a good experience. There was lots of pressure to get into these activities at school.
Seeing people behave in this way actually made me quite sad. This was one reason why I decided quite young that I would leave school as soon as I was old enough to and start working, which is exactly what I did. I left school at the age of 15 in the year 2012 and began working in the Reception of a GP clinic. I moved jobs a few times after school, going from the GP clinic to a hearing clinic to an accounting firm. I felt as though I was still trying to find my feet.
I work in client services and administration which I really enjoy because one of my main strengths is speaking and communicating with people. I receive quite a few calls a day with new potential clients enquiring about our services and when they are booking in they will share with me what is going on for them and quite personal and intimate details. I know they feel like they can trust me and I remain completely professional and ensure that in all I do and say, there is a complete respect. This constantly inspires me to bring passion to my work and do my best to support people.
While I was at school I was a very much a social butterfly, going from group to group chatting to as many people as I could. I loved that I could be friends with anyone rather then keep myself restricted to one group. There are so many interesting people to know.
Nowadays as I walk from where I park my car to the Behaviour Specialist Centre where I work, there is an array of different shops and I love saying 'hi' to as many people as I can.
In July 2014 I was offered a job at Fabic, which I took because I am very fascinated by human behaviour and psychology. At the time I was working in an accounting firm studying a certificate 3 in Business Administration but I put that on pause while I did a big move, out of home from my immediate family, out of the town I had lived in my whole life and into a new city and living with Tanya Curtis who is also my employer for 15 months before only recently moving out.
With a rocky start and many challenges along the way I completed my traineeship and shared my story in a nomination for the Training Awards 2015. I won the award for the South East Region of Queensland Trainee of the Year 2015 and recently have won the Queensland Trainee of the Year 2015.
In relation to the awards I never pushed myself to get to this point, I didn’t get anxious about what would happen, I just took each step as it came, whether that be to write about my story, have phone interview, answer questions from the judges etc. I never once prepared for a phone interview I just took myself to it and answered all honestly. I have found the process quite easy and it’s funny going through it this way because I didn’t realise the hugeness of the event until I end up at the awards night and say “wow, look at where I have ended up.”
I really enjoy catching up with my friends and maintaining the amazing connections that I have with people. One of my favourite things to do is to host dinner parties with my work colleges and other friends. I enjoy making good quality food and love setting the table so everyone feels that they are totally looked after. I love going for walks with friends and I have found some favourite locations around the Gold Coast. Three of my close friends and myself have started a band called ‘The Temple Builders’ and we get together in the early hours of the morning every now and then to play music.
As well as studying a certificate IV in Small Business Management I am attending to other projects that involve writing, discussions, Evolve courses and attending Universal Medicine courses and presentations, which I love. I am a Practitioner member level 2 of the Esoteric Practitioners Association and I have completed Sacred Esoteric Healing and Esoteric Chakra-Puncture courses with Universal Medicine.
These modalities are something I very much enjoy. I love to offer Sacred Esoteric Healing as a service outside my work hours which is what I do most Sundays. With Universal Medicine, Serge Benhayon and these healing modalities, which I also receive regularly, I have been truly supported in my life. Yes I absolutely do get stressed and overwhelmed at times which is fine, I am human, but I do not see myself succumbing to becoming burnt out and giving up on life, especially when I know there is a much fuller, more joyful way of living!
I know I am still young but I have never enjoyed life so much, had so much fun, worked so hard and at the same time been so busy in my entire life. There is so much to do in this world and so many things I enjoy.
