Jenny James – Living Love
NAME: Jenny James
LOCATION: McLeans Ridges, Australia
Mother, Library Worker, Singer
I grew up in mountainous and wild weathered Hobart, Tasmania. My childhood was steeped in nature. As soon as my sister and I could walk my parents would take us on great treks for miles through the pristine bushland, over mountains and rivers in Tasmania – rain, hail or shine. At times it was tough in the beating hot sun, or in winter with the icy snow, but I had an absolute love of everything about nature and can remember the smells, the textures, the sun and wind on my face, everything, as clearly as if I was there yesterday. When I felt the magic of nature everything made sense.
Since then I have travelled to many places and met many people the world over but most importantly I have come to realise
I live now in Northern New South Wales, Australia with my family, my husband and teenage son, I treasure our time together. We all learn from each other constantly. No matter what arises in our family, the love, respect, tenderness and absolute trust we have for each other, plus our ever-great sense of humour, always brings us back together. We have a lot of fun and if we are not, our son always reminds us!
I could always hear music in nature. There was a hill near where I lived as a child that grew gold summer grass and I would lay in it, looking up at the sky, watching the shapes of the clouds, just listening. I remember how the gold bell tips of the grass made delicate music as they brushed together in the breeze. Here I could feel the totality of myself with no reserve.
Now I sing, write songs and co-produce albums; music is a huge part of my life. And I am always drawn to work that involves people or some sort of customer service. I work in a public library, private business and with online websites that bring new meaning and awareness to health-care and wellbeing. My library work puts me in the midst of a busy community hub, which changes all the time with hundreds of people coming through its doors daily. Interacting and working with people from all walks of life is a total joy, something I truly love.
Our business ‘Sounds Wonderful’ was founded over 30 years ago by my husband Chris James, a hugely talented man, singer, musician and presenter, who has the natural gift of inspiring people the world over to empower themselves with the joy of their natural voice and expression. I love the many and varied interactions I have connecting with people all over the world, developing workshops and seminars for many different places including corporations, government departments, schools and hospitals.
We often hold community Big Sings that can include hundreds of people, and bring schools kids of all ages together to sing and express with a harmony and aliveness that we often forget we have inside us amongst the stresses of life. Nothing is more incredibly beautiful than seeing a sea of shining faces, singing and moving together in harmony.
I have always been drawn to music and as a young girl I would sing to my heart’s content privately in the confines of my bedroom. Later in life I became quite public, accompanying my husband on stage, sometimes in front of thousands of people, but I always felt a thread of acute anxiety that no matter what I tried, plagued me intensely.
I came to understand the true depths of expression and energy and its effects, through the philosophy and healing modalities presented by Serge Benhayon and Universal Medicine. Ordinarily simple in it’s practice and extraordinary in it’s results,
Transforming from a shy, stuttering child who would do anything to avoid attention, into someone who loves being out there in the world and no longer afraid to simply be herself on stage, not having to ‘perform’ or put on a face for the audience, is something I would have not thought possible. Now I sing as I am, clear and simple, strong and sweet.
Life is never dull. Since I have learnt to let my heart guide the way the challenges and new horizons that open up are greater and easier to embrace, and as I grow older I am appreciating how much more we can deepen and grow. My husband told me recently that he finds me even more beautiful now, than when he first met me . . . yes, over 23 years later! As one of my songs goes . . .
‘As we love we live,
As we live we love,
It’s surely that simple you know.’
